Han Long extended a warm welcome to Deputy Minister Nomalungelo Gina and reported on the progress of the joint laboratory, the advancement of cooperative projects, research outputs, and sci-tech and people-to-people exchanges. He focused on the practical cooperation between China and South Africa in areas such as green, intelligent, safe and efficient development and utilization of mineral resources, as well as the R&D of new energy battery materials, and highlighted the milestones achieved to date.

Deputy Minister Nomalungelo Gina expressed her appreciation for the achievements of the joint laboratory and her sincere gratitude to BGRIMM for its years of joint research, talent exchanges, and technical training with relevant South African research institutions. She also expressed the hope that practical cooperation between the two sides would move into broader and deeper areas and achieve greater success.

During the symposium, researchers from the joint laboratory reported on the progress and outcomes of ongoing joint research. Relevant responsible persons from Easpring introduced the progress of joint research and the application of results transformation between Easpring and the University of Limpopo in the field of new energy materials, expressing the hope for deeper cooperation and exchanges in more areas.

Earlier, the delegation visited the exhibition hall of the R&D Center to gain a comprehensive understanding of BGRIMM's development history, core technologies, and major achievements. They also toured the mineral processing laboratory, the continuous pilot test line, and the battery material preparation laboratory to learn about the construction progress of the joint laboratory on site.

The visit of the South African Department of Science and Innovation delegation is an important opportunity for BGRIMM to deepen sci-tech collaboration in the development and utilization of mineral resources between China and South Africa. It will further strengthen BGRIMM's sci-tech cooperation with South Africa and other African countries, facilitate the mechanism for talent exchanges, and help both sides achieve a higher level of win-win cooperation in the sustainable development of mineral resources and new energy materials.
