Puthi, a professor at the University of Limpopo in South Africa, was awarded the 2021 Chinese Government Friendship Award

Chen Xiaodong, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, recently presented Puthi Ezrom Ngope, a professor at the University of Limpopo in South Africa, with the 2021 China Government Friendship Award medal and certificate for his positive contribution to bilateral cooperation in the mining sector.

Duterte, deputy Director general of South Africa's Department of Science and Technology, attended the award ceremony on September 27,2022.

Chen Xiaodong extended warm congratulations to Puthi, praising his outstanding achievements in the Sino-South African mining cooperation. He thanked him for his positive contributions to promoting the development of Sino-South African mining and advancing friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and South Africa. Chen also expressed his hope that Puthi would make greater contributions to Sino-South African technological cooperation. Additionally, Chen conveyed sincere greetings to South African experts and friends who have contributed to the friendly development of Sino-South Africa.

Duterte congratulated Puthi on receiving the Friendship Award from the Chinese government and thanked the Chinese Embassy in South Africa for its strong support for china-South Africa scientific and technological innovation cooperation. He said that the South African Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to support china-South Africa scientific and technological innovation cooperation.

The Friendship Award of the Chinese Government is the highest honor awarded to foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's modernization. Patti is a member of the South African Academy of Sciences and has served as a member of the National Research Foundation of South Africa and a director of the National Mining Institute of South Africa.
