Phase II Expansion of Kounrad SX-EW Plant Successfully Commissioned

In early May, BGRIMMs EPS project of Phase II expansion of Kounrad SX-EW plant in Kazakhstan was successfully commissioned, harvesting qualified copper cathodes with copper content at 99.99% above. This second phase expansion involves design and supply of necessary equipment to allow leaching of the western dump area, with the cross transfer of PLS and raffinate solutions between dumps and SX-EW plant, a distance of about 12.5km separating the two facilities.

The years since 2009 have witnessed a series of successful cooperations between CAML and BGRIMM, who has upgraded CAML’s plant capacity to a rate of 10,000 tonnes and 15,000 tonnes copper per annum respectively in 2012 and 2015 with very good operations to date.

CAML has been impressed with BGRIMMs technical design capability and project management competence in always delivering its projects on time, on budget and reaching design parameters. High recognition of the project owner not only manifests BGRIMMs world-class competitiveness in SX-EW technology and engineering, but also further enhances its global standing in the Central Asia region.
